Kristoff Cigars

Kristoff Cigars is an independent premium-cigar company founded by Glen Case in 2004 after he left a career in finance and cigar brokerage. Named for Case's son Christopher, the brand grew from a Chicago-area startup into an internationally distributed boutique portfolio known for Dominican production, pigtail caps, covered or uncut feet and wrapper-led line names.

Kristoff owns its brands but does not own the factory that makes its core cigars. Production is centered at Tabacalera Von Eicken S.R.L. in Santiago, Dominican Republic, formerly known as the Charles Fairmorn factory. From Finance and Brokerage to an Independent Brand

Rustic boxes, loose tobacco presentation, pigtail caps and uncut feet helped Kristoff stand apart visually. Those cues became signatures, but they are not a universal specification for every product or every post-rebrand package; current imagery and construction should be verified by named line.

Growth Through Wrapper-Led Families

Kristoff expanded through families identified by wrapper or blend direction, including Corojo Limitada, Ligero Criollo, Ligero Maduro, Connecticut, San Andrés, Sumatra and Cameroon. This created a portfolio that is easy to browse by broad style while still requiring cigar-specific records for actual tobacco composition.

Corojo Limitada brought national recognition when its Torpedo ranked No. 11 in Cigar Aficionado's 2012 Top 25. Later concepts such as Pistoff Kristoff, Vengeance and Tres Compadres widened the company story beyond the original wrapper-named core.

Founder Ownership and Leadership

Kristoff remains a privately held, founder-led company. Glen Case is founder, owner and chief executive officer, and he remains the principal public voice for brand strategy, blending direction, retailer relationships and product launches.

Case's wife was part of the decision to move from brokerage into proprietary brands, but current publishing should use only verified operating titles. Rolando Villamil is historically important as Case's factory mentor and production partner; he should not be described as the owner of Kristoff.

Headquarters, Distribution and International Reach

Kristoff originated in the Chicago area and operates as an independent U.S. brand company supported by premium-cigar retailers and international distribution. The official site describes the portfolio as internationally known and emphasizes quality, consistency and availability.

Market lineup can vary, particularly for TAA releases, European formats and limited projects. The manufacturer page should explain the company-level network without implying that every cigar, size or special edition is offered in every market.

Tabacalera Von Eicken and Dominican Production

The core Kristoff portfolio is handcrafted in Santiago at Tabacalera Von Eicken S.R.L., the factory formerly known as Charles Fairmorn. The name change matters for search accuracy: older sources and reviews use Charles Fairmorn, while current reporting uses Tabacalera Von Eicken.

Kristoff promotes the entubado bunching method, double- and triple-fermented tobaccos and individual draw testing. These are company production standards, not independent guarantees of performance. Product construction and smoking results should be documented on individual Ashology pages.

Original Criollo and Original Maduro
