Padrón’s Special Releases directory currently identifies Black No. 97 and Black No. 99. The company describes both as limited-production commemorations of José O. Padrón’s birthday anniversaries. Each is listed in Natural and Maduro wrapper versions and ten-count boxes. No. 97 commemorates his ninety-seventh birthday and is explicitly described as a torpedo. No. 99 marks his ninety-ninth. Both measure six and three quarter inches, but No. 97 uses a 54 ring gauge and No. 99 a broader 60 ring gauge. Padrón describes individually numbered banding for these releases. Their names, dimensions and birthday commemorations give the Black collection its own identity alongside 1926 Serie, Family Reserve and the company-anniversary cigars.
