Toro: Format and Comparisons Barrel Fermented Toro is the widest of the three Pappy Van Winkle Barrel Fermented formats at 6 × 54. Robusto is shorter and slightly narrower at 5 1/4 × 52. Churchill is longer at seven inches but slimmer at 48 ring. The family’s production story centers on Kentucky fire-cured tobacco fermented in retired Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels. Tradition Toro is also six inches long, but measures 50 ring. It supplies a narrower same-length comparison under Pappy Van Winkle’s separately described Tradition expression.
